Halifax, Nova Scotia Home to a Multitude of Summer Festivals Highlighting Arts & Culture

Halifax, NS (Vocus) June 14, 2010 -- Summer festival season has arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia (http://www.destinationhalifax.com/). In June, two major festivals celebrate food and culture with the ever-popular Greek Fest June 11-13 followed by two days of Nova Scotia seafood at CATCH Nova Scotia Seafood Festival June 19-20 on the waterfront. Celebrate the 100th anniversary of Canada’s Navy with the International Fleet Review Week June 28-July 2. More than 22 foreign naval ships and 5,000 sailors will arrive in the Halifax Harbour, with special ceremonies, entertainment, fireworks and ship tours for everyone to enjoy.

From July 2-4, the 26th annual RBC Multicultural Festival takes place at the Halifax Seaport with performances and food from more than 30 cultural groups. Immediately following the popular TD Halifax Jazz Festival (July 9-17), Halifax embraces Atlantic Canada’s largest Pride Festival (July 18-25). Halifax Rocks 2010 brings two-day multi-act musical festival to the Halifax Common July 23-24, featuring the Black Eyed Peas, Kid Rock, Counting Crows and many other acts.

Natal Day, celebrating Halifax’s community spirit, has live entertainment, family events, festival tents and sporting activities July 20- August 2. For the 24th year from August 5-15, the streets come alive with Halifax art (http://www.destinationhalifax.com/arts) and culture at the Halifax International Busker Festival with six entertainment stages and over 500 performances from jugglers to fire-breathers, contortionists to musicians. Country music fans will love the Country Rocks the Commons show with George Canyon, One More Girl, Lonestar and Alan Jackson (August 6-7). August 13-14 is the 4th annual Halifax Seaport Beerfest with great beers, good food and fun. Be sure to take in a production of Shakespeare by the Sea at Point Pleasant Park.
